๐พ How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park โ Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friendโbut aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Hammel Woods Dog Park offers a natural setting for dogs and their owners to enjoy outdoor activities. Located in a scenic area, it provides space for dogs to play and socialize.
We’ve been going to this dog park for over 5 years. You do need a pass but it’s absolutely worth it as I’ve seen many new features go in over the years.
The park was originally a single large fenced in area, with a covered section with seats. There are poop bags available in different areas at the park and garbage cans to dispose of it. The grass is kept mowed and the brushy vegetation is trimmed. In fact today we were commenting that the grass looks great even with all the dog traffic.
In the past 5 years they have added more seating under the covered section, added a separate park for smaller dogs, and made a water fountain available for filling containers for the dogs. I’ve also seen the park ranger come by to check on things a few times. My dog knows the phrase ‘dog park’ and goes nuts until we arrive. He really loves it!
Now if this isn’t happiness I don’t know what is.
There are a lot of regular here that are so great to us and you can tell they love their dogs!
It’s so fun coming here and playing with different breeds
Took my babes to the Dog Park today ๐ถ ๐พ We found this little path in the midst of the trees ๐ฒ which she loved! I’m tryin to get my Lulu around other dogs but she kept following me ๐คฆ It’s like, gon girl! Go sniff some canine keister ๐ and get off mine for awhile ๐ Hopefully if I keep bringing her, she can make some new friends ๐ฅฐ I’m definitely open to doggie dates (she’s fixed btw ๐ซค)
PS: it’s extremely difficult to take pics of your dog looking at the camera!! ๐ธ If someone can train my lil Lulu, I’ll give you season tickets to the gun show ๐ช๐
Permit required! Nice trails all around if you can’t step inside, one leads you down near the DuPage river where you can step in the water. There are two dog parks here, one for small dogs and one for big dogs. The big park is very spacious and one of the nicest dog parks I’ve been to. The fields are kept very clean. There’s lots of different “enrichment” areas for the dogs to explore, like tall grass and a wooded area with a walking path in the middle. The entire park is a big loop and is a great way to practice off leash recall and off leash walking. Great way for both humans and their pups to get a walk in!
Been coming here for years. Started parking at the dog park to get the most steps / distance in on the woods trail, or recently the first entrance to the left when coming in off of 59 for the group of inclines workout when wanting to do those off the bat (where the old steps used to be). There are bathrooms at every parking area. It’s pretty easy to hit 4 or more miles. Just gotta change it up a bit. ๐
