My first time going here. A friend that is very familiar with the trails met me to help me figure it out. I was told it was sort of confusing and I agree. Had it not been for my guided tour, I would have probably taken plenty of wrong turns. But what a great trail system! So smooth and well kept. And there are large map boards all over, as well as trail name signs. A nice bridge connects two separate parts of the trail system. I can’t wait to go back. If mountain biking isn’t your thing, you can hike, play pickle ball, or use the shelters for cook outs and get togethers. It’s a Catawba County property so it’s maintained very well. Several bathrooms and plenty of parking. In my very unprofessional opinion, those are the best trails around.

Mountain Creek Park is a fantastic spot for families and nature lovers alike. The playground is very well built, offering a variety of climbing structures for kids of all ages to enjoy. While there isn’t a ton of shade directly over the playground, the design of the equipment itself creates enough shaded areas to step out of the sun when needed.
Nearby, there’s a clean, covered picnic area that’s perfect for lunch or a break, and restrooms also close by. There is a small indoor nature center — a nicely air-conditioned space featuring taxidermy animals, a couple of live snakes, and a cozy reading nook. It was a great place to cool off and explore.
The park has plenty of shaded trails, which was a relief on a 90-degree day. Even with the heat, we were able to enjoy walking without feeling overheated. The park was buzzing with activity — from people walking dogs, playing tennis, exploring the trails, and simply relaxing.
It’s dog-friendly, spacious, and well laid out, with plenty of parking and a good mix of activities for all ages. Definitely a great place to spend a few hours or the whole day!

Stunning, beautifully kept park. The playground was so clean, fun, and just the right amount of challenging for my 2yr old. Gorgeous flowers planted around the property. There’s even a nature center! By far the best park we’ve found so far 🙌
