It’s a normal boat launch going into the Hackensack River. Used it when going kayaking.

The place is the drop off point to get your water craft into the Hackensack River. As you unload your water craft you’ll note to the right there’s a dog park and let you pooch hang out there before you load into your craft and you’ll both be happy. Got a kayak or canoe this place will accommodate your need to get out on the water. Once your in the water you’ll note the wild life, comorans, seagulls and ospreys to name a few. If your lucky you’ll get a glimpse of a pair of Red Falcons. There are all kinds of birds all around. Now you have entrance to the river and access to assorted locations. River Barge Park is on the opposite side and along the water way you’ll come to Laurel Park and going along the crater way you will encounter other memorable places to visit. So give your adventurous soul a go and head on out into the Hackensack River and make your entrance point the Secaucus Municipal Point. Have fun and be safe!

Sarah’s review was spot on. I did not notice there was a water tap to the right side of the ramp as you walked down. Until after I was ready to leave. Also, as mentioned, very important is that the ramp is very slippery and there was a severe amount of muck at the bottom. So they mentioned to go when the tide is high is notable.

If you own an Oru (or any) kayak, this is a great put in spot. However, ITS IMPORTANT TO CHECK FOR HIGH TIDE! At low tide, you are launching or returning well below the paved part of the ramp, and it’s very soft muddy goo that will lead to stories at your own expense at your next social event. Also, the lowest part of the cement is very very slippery. BE CAREFUL. Still, you should persevere! There is a tap to give your boat a rinse after, and the portapotties of last year are now an actual bathroom, so what more could you want??

If you launch and go right (at or near high tide) you will be on a meandering paddle through marshland, which I love.

If you want to get on the water and the tide is getting low, launch and go left, which is deeper. When you pass the park, you can go right, and head for the bridge (eastern spur of 95). I went under and then ran out of time and headed back.

If you have a friend with a car and a kayak, you can do an awesome one way kayak, starting here and taking out at Laurel Hill Park, (which also has a tap for rinsing your boat after). https://maps.app.goo.gl/X8ymvm8nrLCU3Lq46
I think you need to check the tides for this, so you aren’t paddling against the current the whole time (unless that’s your thing!)
