Sans Souci County Park is a deceptively spacious park known for its enjoyable hiking trails and kid-friendly environment. Visitors can explore various trails featuring streams, bridges, and natural elements like gnome nests, making it ideal for families and dog owners. While dogs are allowed, they must be kept on a leash with owners cleaning up after them. The park offers onsite parking, though the main lot is small, with additional parking recommended on nearby streets. It’s popular for mountain biking, hiking, and winter walks, though visitors should be aware of potential ticks in warmer months. The park has a natural and somewhat rustic atmosphere, but some recent concerns have been raised about maintenance and environmental conditions.

NEGLECT!! After hiking in a few NYS parks recently, I am stunned by the condition of Suffolk County Parks, specifically
Sans Souci. Dead trees are everywhere, algae in the lakes killing lotus pads. Ducks gone from the lakes. I was born in
Suffolk County and have lived here my whole life (72 years) and it is heartbreakiing to see this neglect by local government. I’d post photos but don’t have Google photos.

Good place for MTN biking, lots of fun trails. Wash outs, berms and the occasional wooden structures over streams. Some uphill climbing that’s worth it when you find the downhill deer trails. Recommend checking out.

Love winter walks with the dog in this little county park. Lots of trails, easy walking, can be crowded on warm sunny days. Recommend parking on road side at Church Street or Old Broadway entrance, main parking lot on Broadway is very small. I don’t go here in the warmer months, it’s crawling with ticks.

Very nice park. You can take your dog as long as you keep it on a leash and clean up after it. We went on a Sunday morning at 10am and saw about 12 other people throughout our walk which lasted about 30 minutes. There are a lot of trails so we tried to stay on the main ones but you can definitely explore. Saw one person on a mountain bike. Will definitely go again.

Deceptively big park. I manage to get lost every time I go with the kids. We have discovered a few little streams, some bridges and some gnome nests. Watch out also for the big turkeys. Dog friendly, kid friendly.
