Nice and easy to moderate trails to choose from. Walk along the Patuxent River. Plenty of stops for Pokemon Go. There is parking along the street and a lot nearby that is safe to park. Pay attention to No Parking signs. There are several places to eat nearby.
I use to bring my daughter and her 2 cousins to the river to walk and watch for birds. The trail has a port-a-potty at the beginning. The trail itself is clean and level. There are also entrances to the river. You just have to walk down a path. There is one path that is easier to walk down. You can tell by how steep the climb is.
The Savage Mill trail is great any time of the year, but in the HEAT it’s a God-send! It’s shaded by beautiful trees, and it’s right above the river which has a couple little waterfalls at some points. Very pretty, very relaxing. It’s not a super long trail, but it’s a great walk, and there’s a port-a-potty at the trail head!
It was a surprise how beautiful the river is,Saw few people doing fishing near the water falls. Even the dogs are happy to be there. Spring turned everything green fast. Park on the side of the road. But 8pm-6am no parking allowed on the side of the road.
