St Marys Falls Park is a peaceful, pet-friendly park in the heart of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, perfect for dog owners and families alike. The park offers scenic ship-watching opportunities as freighters navigate the nearby locks, making it a unique spot for visitors seeking a relaxing atmosphere. Shady trees and picnic tables are scattered throughout, providing plenty of space for you and your dog to unwind and enjoy a pleasant day outdoors.
With wheelchair accessible paths and parking, St Marys Falls Park welcomes everyone, including those with mobility needs. Parking is free and generally easy to find, and there’s a small pavilion to shelter under if the weather turns. The area is popular for dog walking, picnics, and watching boats, but keep in mind that the roads within the park may be uneven in places and there are no public restrooms on site.
Nice, more low-key area to watch ships enter the locks from Lake Huron. With scattered picnic tables and some trees makes for a nice little stopping area with easy parking. Currently there’s lots of geese and seagulls in the area!
Nice quiet hidden gem of a park. You can’t see the locks. But you can view ships coming and going from the east side of the locks. Ample parking and short walk to picnic tables. Unfortunately there are no grills, so pack your pb&j for a picnic!. No restrooms. One small rain shelter pavilion.
Easy to find, decent free parking. Easy to enjoy and picnic and watch freighters pass by and enter soo locks. 2 blocks walk to locks park entrance and viewing platform
Clean and beautiful! Nice spot to sit in the pavilion or in the sun and have a picnic and watch the boats go by.
Great boatwatching spot, pavillion and picnic tables. But road is in horrible shape. Sad the COE or city wouldnt make repairs.
Still a great spot, road still sucks.
7/3/23 update to road condition- appears the American Legion patched up part of the road. Lots still hazardous to walking sadly
4/28/25 🙁 road remains untenable. Sad that no Federal $$ were allocated to COE property improvements
