Huge open space. Lots of different trails to take. Benches to just sit. Dogs free to do what dogs do. Every dog we can in contact with was friendly

Excellent off leash dog park for nice walks, dog is optional. Wonderful sunsets and gradual walks. Not recommended for ‘unsocialized’ dogs. Some dogs might be aggressive and escalations sometimes occur. But this is the most awesome dog park ever; miles and miles of gentle trails and plenty of poopoo bags.

Best dog park I’ve been to and I’ve visited many on multiple drives across the country. The people are delightful, nicest I’ve ever met. I smile every time i visit! There are a few gazebos to sit and rest, there are a few watering stations for your pups and people are always leaving dog snacks, old harnesses, dog bowls etc which you are welcome to take. It is big, and beautiful.

Great open space. Lots of dogs but didn’t feel crowded. Plenty of shade to keep cool and bushes to dart in and out of. Clean grounds – I actively looked for poop piles and never found any. Probably due to ample dog waste bags everywhere. Benches aplenty. It is not enclosed however, so take note if that matters to you. But we’ll be back for sure.

Frank Ortiz Park is a fantastic off-leash area that spans 138 acres, featuring beautiful arroyos, hills, and miles of trails with breathtaking views of Santa Fe. It serves as an excellent escape within the neighborhood, offering plenty of space for dogs to play and explore. To ensure safety for our pets, I recommend keeping dogs within the designated areas, especially considering the park’s proximity to the highway and residential zones.

I take my dog to the park almost every Monday morning. It provides a perfect outlet for my dog’s energy and serves as a refreshing break for me when I’m not up for longer hikes around Santa Fe.

One observation I’ve made is the diversity in attitudes among fellow dog owners. While many dogs enjoy socializing, some owners tend to be a bit reserved or unfriendly. It would be wonderful to see more openness and camaraderie among dog owners, as a welcoming attitude can greatly enhance everyone’s experience at the park.

Despite these frequent interactions, the park’s natural beauty always shines through, making each visit enjoyable. With numerous trails and seating areas available, there are endless adventures to embark on along the paths, and it’s common for people to bring their own seats for added comfort. Overall, Frank Ortiz Park is a lovely place to connect with nature and enjoy quality time with our furry friends, even if there’s room for improvement in the human interactions!
