If you’re searching for a dog park in San Jose, California, the Dog Park at Hellyer County Park is a popular choice for local pet owners. This spacious, grassy, fully fenced off-leash area welcomes both large and small breeds, with divided sections ensuring safety for all pups. Shaded areas and plenty of benches make it comfortable for owners, while water spigots and bowls help keep dogs hydrated throughout their playtime.
Visitors often remark on the friendly community and well-behaved dogs, as well as the real grass that sets this park apart from others in San Jose. A daily parking fee of $6 applies (waived if you park in nearby neighborhoods), and there’s the added benefit of pet-friendly trails and a kid-friendly playground nearby. The dog park experiences its busiest hours during early evening but is generally peaceful in the mornings. Please note: the park is closed Wednesdays for maintenance.

Parking was NULL, the park is clean, the area is also bigger than I thought it would be. Most of the dogs here are friendly. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Hands down the BEST dog park in San Jose. Every corner of this giant field has a different feel and vibe. There is also a good amount of dogs that always show up; things can get hectic from 6-8pm but it is usually a lot calmer in the morning and early day. Almost all the owners keep a close eye on their dogs, with a few exceptions of course. There is a NULL dollar entrance fee, but you only need to pay if the workers are there, which is about 3/7 days of the week. Most people park in the neighborhood around the corner to avoid paying.

Just moved to the area and this was our first time here. A great experience. Dogs were well-behaved, owners were super friendly. Real grass (yay!!!!!!!) and lots of toys, water buckets and a water pump for clean, fresh water. Lots of places to sit in the sun or shade. Worth the NULL park fee but we plan to come often so we bought a county park pass. Lots of areas to the park where you can relax. Oh, the dog park is closed on Wednesdays for maintenance. Overall awesome place!
