Del Monte Park features a convenient and centrally located dog park in San Jose, CA, perfect for pet owners looking for a safe, off-leash, and pet-friendly environment. With separate fenced areas for both large and small dogs, ample shade, and artificial turf, this dog park provides a comfortable spot for your dog to play and socialize. The park also sits adjacent to the scenic Los Gatos Creek Trail, giving dog owners access to dog-friendly walking and hiking opportunities in the heart of the city.
What sets Del Monte Park apart is its thoughtful amenities, including benches, limited picnic tables, covered shaded areas, trash cans, and a water station (note: the water fountains are sometimes out of order, so consider bringing your own water). Parking is available on both the street and in designated areas, and the park offers restroom facilities nearby. The diverse facilities—including grassy spaces, a children’s playground, checkers/game tables, and proximity to local dog-friendly eateries—make this urban dog park a unique community hub for both dogs and their people.
Small fenced dog areas. One for small dogs and one for big dogs. Friendly people and dogs were encountered this day. Bathrooms were not great but very public and people are gross so we didn’t expect much but had to use them.

This is more of an obstacle course playground, which there’s absolutely nothing wrong it! But my kids ages range from 2-6, so this review is based on that.
It has shade above the whole area so that’s really nice!
There seems to be some sort of designated parking on one side but I found plenty of street parking on the opposite side, so we parked there.
There is a large grass area to run around as well as a gated soccer turf field.
Pros:
✅️shaded
✅️ample parking
✅️lots of grass area to run around
✅️bathrooms
✅️picnic tables and benches throughout
Cons:
❌️not geared for toddlers

I stopped going to this dog park due to lots of poop piles in the small dog side and also people not paying attention to their dog(s) while either staring at their phones or socializing with others. I started to give this park a try again, 3 times in 2 months. Nothing has changed and the water fountain wasn’t working. And also to note is I arrived at around 9:30 a.m. this past Thursday. No soccer games or practices happening yet on the Auzerais side, parking was sparse and I ended up parking way past the soccer fields. I would like to give a better rating if only dog parents would pay attention to their pets and have some respect for all others that use the park, especially picking up their pet’s poop.

This review is for the dog park only. First time going to this dog park. There is plenty of street parking available. The dog park is near the middle of the park. It is devided into a large and small dog side. The small dog side has a water station but no poop bags available. As was evident by the amount of poop around the perimeter. While I was there a gentleman came in with his dog and immediately started looking at his phone. His dog shortly after went and took a poop. He completely ignored the poop. He then started taking with the other regulars. This must be a common practice as a lady came in and started talking and ignored her dog as it took a poop. We won’t be returning any time. The only positive thing is it’s next to the Los Gatos creek trail
