FAQ for University Park Dog Park in Sacramento California:
This is my daily dog park, as it is closest to my apartment. I would rate it higher, but there isn’t enough shade, and it’s mostly sand instead of grass. There is also concrete leading up to it, so dogs burn their feet on the concrete and the sand when it’s hot. It’s a dog park that is good for cooler weather, but not when it’s hot out.
Plenty of shade, benches, and room for the dogs to play. Not very many dogs there when I’ve gone. Both parks have water fountains.
This is a small dog park, split into small and large dog areas. The ground is covered entirely in crushed granite, so expect excessive dust when it’s dry or muddy paws and lots of sand if it’s wet. Across the street is a large human park and there’s also easy river access. I like this place because there’s a good variety of dog breeds. The dogs and their owners are generally friendly and well socialized. My dog always has fun here and I enjoy it too. It fluctuates from empty to busy quickly so if it’s not vibe, go back in an hour and check it out.
We were blown away by this private dog park! There was so much space to run and things to do. We have an extra large puppy who is usually timid around any agility equipment, but she had a blast running up ramps and through tunnels. Plenty of shaded areas, places to sit, toys to use. Can’t wait to go back.
We have been to several private dog parks in the area. This is the best one if you are looking for a fun, private, safe place to take your dogs to play.It feels fully secluded and private. Such a great option for our 2 dogs (one of which is reactive). Even the parking area is blocked off and can’t be seen from inside the private dog park. Such a good space with beautiful trees, fun things for the dogs to climb on, and plenty of toys. They have a shaded area with a bench which is so nice if you need a break from the sun. There are also a couple other benches around the park. They have a couple agility things set up and a hose and water bowl. They were very thoughtful when setting this all up. We will be back very soon!
Nice spot, seems clean and friendly… Lots of picnic tables outside the dog area to hangout. We came after it rained so it was pretty dirty, but packed down so not really muddy. My one small complaint is the small dog park seems way bigger than the large dog park… Maybe they get more small dogs? Either way, I’d be back!
This is one of my favorite dog parks in Sacramento. The entire area is divided in two, allowing smaller breeds to segregate from larger ones. Both sides have sections of dirt and sections of grass, so there’s something for even the pickiest pooch. Benches on both sides of the fence add a nice touch. Dog-friendly water fountains are available, and there’s a nice park for the kids directly across the street. The only comparable dog park I have found locally is Truitt Bark Park, but the dirt is unforgiving for certain breeds…
