🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Located conveniently in Rutherford, New Jersey, the Extended Stay America – Meadowlands may be pet-friendly, but it is important for local dog owners to know that this location is actually a hotel rather than a dedicated dog park or green space. Reviews focus on the pet policy within the hotel premises, indicating that dogs are allowed in guest rooms and the property is located near major local attractions including MetLife Stadium and American Dream.
According to guest feedback, there is no proper fenced dog park, off-leash area, or dedicated outdoor amenity for dogs at this address. Dog owners looking for dog-friendly trails or pet play spaces will need to seek local alternatives in Rutherford, NJ, or the Meadowlands area. For those seeking hotel accommodations with pets, be prepared for challenges such as minimal pet-specific amenities, reported cleanliness issues, and no defined off-leash space.
This was honestly the worse hotel experience I ever stayed in. Soon as you get inside the carpets are insanely dirty, they smell, in my room was roaches and I’m not even sure if it was clean. There was hair on the shower curtain and “clean” towels. The room smelled like mildew and dog and every almost two hours the room vibrates.

Honestly pretty gross. We originally booked for a 2 week stay while waiting for our apartment to be ready since we are relocating from out of town. Have stayed with ESA before so expected much better. We ended up checking out after 3 nights and moving to another hotel.
The room we got was MUCH worse than any photo on the website. Couldn’t sleep most nights because the airconditioner was too loud, the whole room reeks slightly of cigarette smoke. The hot water in the kitchenette doesn’t work and the condition of the fixtures was pretty dismal.
Oh and the kicker we were told they would be renovating the rooms while we were still staying in them?! So I would need to crate my pet at some undisclosed time.
Honestly it’s not worth saving even ? staying here. It’s just gross.

⭐ Worst Hotel Experience Ever – Do Not Stay Here ⭐
I rarely write reviews, but this hotel deserves a warning for anyone considering it.
• Shaking Building: Every time the AC kicked in, the entire room literally shook. Felt unsafe and extremely uncomfortable.
• Pest Repellent Plugged In: There was a pest repellent device in the room – not something you want to see when you’re paying top dollar. Makes you wonder what’s crawling around.
• Dirty & Smelly: The hallway carpets were filthy and smelled bad. The room itself wasn’t much better — old, poorly maintained, with lingering odors.
• Poor Room Quality: Stains from cups and spills, outdated furniture, and overall bad upkeep. Definitely not worth the price.
• Terrible Check-In & Customer Service: Unfriendly and unhelpful staff. The check-in process was slow and frustrating.
• Awful Breakfast: I understand it’s “grab & go,” but still no fruit options, stale coffee, only one kind of creamer, and very limited choices. Honestly, it felt like they don’t even try.
• Overpriced: Paid almost NULL,200 for 2 nights, 2 rooms — a complete rip-off for the poor quality and service.
• Old Building: Everything feels run-down. The only reason we booked was location (close to MetLife Stadium, American Dream, and NYC). Definitely not worth the sacrifice in comfort.
To make it worse, a friend of mine had booked here too. Their rooms weren’t available, so they stayed at another Extended Stay about 2 miles away. They checked out after one night and moved to a Howard Johnson, which was actually much better.
👉 Bottom line: Please spend a little more and book somewhere else. This place was an absolute nightmare and the worst hotel experience I’ve had in years.

It was mistake of choosing this hotel though they say apologies etc. nothing gonna happen. because the hotel chain is managed by someone and the ground management is different.,
1. Room is okay, but front desk told no maintenance and I need to carry dirty towels or bedsheets down to exchange for fresh
2. Breakfast is biggest and fattest joke. not worthy
3. Staff is not friendly
4. Kitchen is just for name sake, front desk often tells that they don’t have necessary utensils. “No toaster, no coffee maker”
6. Bathroom and bathroom basic amenities including cleaning are not up to the mark
not worth as they advertise.
if you travelling with family or solo, look for better alternative options.
