This dog park features multiple fenced areas, including dedicated spaces for small dogs, large dogs, and an expansive wooded area with hiking trails. The park is well-known for its friendly members—both furry and human—and offers a safe, off-leash environment for dogs to play, run, and explore forested trails right in the heart of Royal Oak.
Amenities at Mark Twain Dog Park include picnic tables, plenty of seating, a water station for dogs, and wheelchair-accessible entrances. While the park remains well-kept and is popular year-round, frequent visitors note that it can be muddy after rain due to its natural setting. This dog park stands out for its wooded, trail-lined area, making it a top choice for owners seeking dog-friendly hiking and outdoor adventure. Membership is required, helping to foster a close-knit, well-maintained community.
Love that it’s membership based. The back wooded area is amazing for dogs to be off leash.
I love taking my pooch here. Exploring in the woods is super fun when it’s not ALL mud. When there’s other dogs there, my Daisy has so much fun playing chase. There’s lots of places to sit, a water station for drinks or hosing off, usually nice people… just have to be careful because some owners don’t intervene like they should when their dogs are getting aggressive. Otherwise, I recommend it!
Great Dog Park!! 3 fenced in areas including a wooded trail area for the pups to run in… Nice People, Very Clean and well kept park… Definitely worth the NULL yearly fee..
Our fave dog park! There is a small area for smaller dogs, a large open play area for large pups, and the coolest wooded area in the back. Our dog loves running thru the trails. Lots of friendly members: both human and furry.
Honest review here:
– the best feature of this park is the back forested area. There’s multiple paths and our dog loves chasing squirrels, running with other dogs and leaping over tree branches.
– least favorite is the park is regularly wet. Even with recent drainage projects, it’s regularly flooded or too muddy to walk.
– the front gated area is nice for people with smaller dogs, or for dogs that don’t do well with other dogs, or just to give your dog a social break from other dogs
– the main gated area is huge yet a lot of dogs seem to hang out in the middle, which is sometimes overwhelming to walk through
– the monthly membership is fine.
– finally, with such a large space, i really wish they would have some sort of fun play features /obstacles like other dogs parks have.
The potential is there to make this park amazing.
