Sports Park is a favorite gathering spot for locals looking for a dog-friendly place in Rogers City, MI. While primarily known for its baseball diamond and winter ice rink, this three-acre park offers a welcoming atmosphere for families, children, and pet owners seeking some open space in town. Its residential setting makes it both convenient and inviting for a quick visit or an energetic play session.
The park features wheelchair accessible entrances and parking, as well as a kid-friendly environment, making it suitable for a broad range of visitors. Street parking is available, and the location is well-maintained for year-round enjoyment—known especially for transforming into an ice skating rink in the winter. Bring your dog on a leash for a walk or to enjoy the open green space.
When I’m looking at a new park that I’m thinking about checking out in person I ask myself 3 questions. Does this park have baseball, ice skating, and parking? If the answer to any of those is no I don’t go. But if they all are answered with a yes then I can move onto my next 3 questions. Does it look like a neighborhood I could get shot in? Would the park change its name to Trump Park if it were put on the ballot for the residents to decide? Will I run into Pandy Fackler possibly at this park? I want those to all be no answers. The last one could be a yes, I just want to be mentally prepared for it.

Smaller 3 acre park in the residential neighborhood. It basically comprises of a baseball diamond. With only one baseball diamond it is not compared to the ball fields across town but amounted to some great fun in my childhood.
The highlight is likely the ice rink that emerges in the winter. I’ve had many a great night skating out at the park in my childhood winters. Always made me wonder about the science of it, of how many gallons of water it took to create and maintain it, of where the water went as it melted.
In any case great ballpark that transforms into an even better ice rink in the winter.
