Located at 260 Boxart St, Turning Point Park is a favorite dog park in Rochester, New York for local nature lovers and pet owners. This scenic destination is well-known for its wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking, making it a great choice for families, kids, and guests with mobility needs. Its dog-friendly hiking trails and iconic boardwalk extend over marshlands along the Genesee River, offering unrivaled views of native wildlife, from birds and turtles to the occasional deer and fox.
Whether you visit for a leisurely stroll, exercise, or simply to enjoy the quiet beauty of the area, Turning Point Park welcomes dogs on leash and provides plenty of shade along its wooded trails. There is ample parking, picnic areas, and the opportunity to spot swans, fish, or relax after your walk at nearby eateries like Pelican’s Nest or Bill Gray’s. The park is also noted for being kid-friendly, making it a perfect destination for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors together.
Visited in July. Found parking in the lot.
The trails and boardwalk provide such beautiful views. This quiet green waterside park often has lots of bird activity, fish and turtles in the water, and people tend to be relaxed strolling along.
It’s nice for short visits or longer- going all the way to the beach as I did.
Be prepared for one challenging incline between the parking lot and boardwalk. The rest is pie 😊
This hike has just about everything you could want. The boardwalk goes over marsh land where you can watch painted turtles sunbathing on cat tails and floating logs. You can watch the barn swallows fly around playing tag and doing barrel rolls mid air. If you’re lucky you might even see the swans & their little ones paddle by. After this your path leads to a couple miles in shaded woods that eventually gives out to the great lake. You can grab a bite to eat or a beer at Pelicans nest or even bill grays on the water.
Beautiful nature area with trails and a 2/3 mile long boardwalk over the Genesee River for walking, hiking or cycling. Lots of wildlife, especially birds and turtles. Something interesting to see in every season.
One of my favorite spots to walk, always see different birds and turtles. Sometimes even deer and foxes. Can also fish here.
The great board walk, with scenic views, lot of wild activity. And dog friendly. You can do fishing as well.
