Located in the heart of Rochester, New York, Seneca Park Zoo offers a unique opportunity for families and animal lovers to connect with a wide variety of exotic wildlife. While this is a zoo, not a dedicated dog park, it’s well loved for its accessible facilities, shaded walking paths, and welcoming atmosphere for families with children. It features accessible entrances, wheelchair-friendly restrooms and seating, and even has a tram for tired little visitors. Parking is convenient with both a free lot and free street parking available onsite.
Visitors appreciate the beautiful, shaded grounds, interactive animal encounters like feeding giraffes, and the observation area within the animal hospital. After exploring the animal exhibits, guests can relax at the onsite café or browse the gift shop for souvenirs. Seneca Park Zoo is a wonderful choice for families searching for kid-friendly activities, accessible outings, and a memorable day close to the city. While dogs are not noted as a primary focus, the zoo’s accessibility, outdoor paths, and friendly vibe may interest pet lovers, especially those looking for other pet-friendly attractions in Rochester.
Last time I was at this zoo was 10 years ago when I was a teenager, but today I went with my niece for her 2nd birthday trip. She loves animals and this was her first zoo definitely not her last zoo trip. We saw all the cool animals, and we feed the giraffes. The I think she liked watching otters and the Sea Lions in the water the best. She was starting crash at the end of the zoo, so we were thankful there was a tram to take us back to the beginning, and I got her a giraffe and otter stuffy, so she could have them for the rest of life.
Went to zoo brew and want to shout out Kathy, who drove us in the golf cart from the parking lot to the entrance as a part of the VIP package. Kathy was the highlight! She’s awesome. I recommend paying for VIP. Get closer parking, shorter or no line for entry, and two drink tickets.
Was pleasantly surprised to see so many of the animals out and about! Lions, elephants, giraffes, otters, snow owl, and more.
We love bringing the kids here! It’s always a great experience with the animals. (Tiger however is always hiding when I’m there, I usually only see him in the distance occasionally) but other than that it’s amazing. They love it and so do us parents less than 2 hours out of the day is a plus also for days off for me. We even enjoy bringing friends with us and walking and chatting while checking out the animals. Only complaint I would say is the lack of vending machines that used to be available around the zoo. & the cost of the small slim cans of soda and ‘cans of water’ I’ve never tried water from a can and immediately decided not to. Thinking back with my luck it would have been a sparkling or seltzer 🤢SO with a cost of almost 6$ that’s the reason for my 4 ⭐️. But please if you’re in Rochester visiting or haven’t taking the kids, please go it really is wonderful.
Nice, well shaded zoo with a good variety of animals. If I lived near it I would probably visit regularly! It was interesting that they have a section of the animal hospital for visitors to observe staff doing work!
This is a wonderful place to take your family. My family enjoyed it greatly. It has a wonderful selection of exotic animals, and it was an easy walk for young children. Thank you, Seneca Park Zoo, for a fantastic day.
