Located at 1084 Dutton Rd, this entry point to the renowned Paint Creek Trail is a great access spot for dog owners seeking scenic, pet-friendly hiking in Rochester Hills. The trail is celebrated for its beautiful landscapes, historic railroad bridges, and smooth crushed limestone paths perfect for casual strolls, running, or biking alongside your canine companion. Wheelchair accessible parking ensures everyone can enjoy this local gem.
Though not a traditional dog park with fenced play areas, the Paint Creek Trail offers a welcoming, natural setting for leashed walks with your dog. Enjoy benches and lookouts along the route, and explore nearby restaurants and a cider mill if you venture further. Weekends can be busy near Rochester Hills, but quieter stretches northward let you and your pet embrace the peaceful environment. If you’re searching for pet-friendly trails and outdoor exercise for you and your furry friend, Paint Creek Trail is a top choice in Oakland County.

A small lot but does the job. The Tienken Road lot is often a better bet.
Ah, such a beautiful bridge. It is unfortunate, however, that its builders chose to pollute the area with microplastics. Spreading plastic erosion mesh is no different than using taxpayer monies to litter the area with six-pack rings…the mesh will snare small animals even more quickly, then pollute the river basin with microplastics, which will eventually find their way to our drinking water, fish, and soils. Alas.
Love this trail for walking and biking. Crushed limestone creates a smooth surface easy for both mountain and road bikes. Weekends are fairly busy close to Rochester Hills and get much quieter as you go north to Lake Orion. Gentle grade going north, easy ride going south. A Stop along the midpoint includes a cider mill, several lookouts and resting benches. At either end, great restaurants. My go to running trail. This trail is good for the casual weekender too.
