This is the second time I’ve visited and I’ve been pleasantly surprised both times due to the wonderful birdwatching and critters out-and-about. Recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
I like how Ohio has upped their access to trails for easy strolling. All gravel, great if you have an ambulatory snag or rehabbing an injury. Walk on! There is also a reward program involving receiving a hiking stick in the end with proof of completion. Love hiking reward programs. Let’s go after Arizona and their National Monument hiking reward program.
This is a great new park for the area. A ton of trails going through various pond and marsh environments. Towards the back is “Mt. Rittman” as the locals call it, a decently small hill with a decent view from the top. There are benches everywhere in this park, a few picnic areas and port a potty bathroom facilities. This is a great park for bird watching and animals in general. On my first visit there I saw: swans, geese, ducks, heron, various song birds, fish, deer, and turtles. I also heard bullfrogs and woodpeckers but I didn’t see them. I will go back here for sure!
Amazing place to walk while enjoying nature. If you’re a photographer you’ll love it for sure. There’s not a lot of shade so wear sunscreen or a hat. There’s a late to kayak which seems perfect if you’re into calmer waters. Lots of wildlife, especially birds.
I absolutely love this place. It’s beautiful and serene. There are tons of wildlife. I’ve seen snapping turtles, soft shelled turtles, and painted turtles everywhere. I’ve seen a bald eagle multiple times and various other raptors like Goshawks, falcons, owls, and red tailed hawks. Loads of geese and muskrat. It’s well maintained with nice, easy walking paths. I highly recommend if you are ever in the area.
