🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Rainbow Dog Park Parking is a dedicated off-leash dog park in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, offering ample space for your furry friends to run and play. The park is fully fenced, creating a safe environment for dogs to exercise freely. While the fencing could be higher, the open area is a convenient place for locals looking for a dog-friendly spot in the 87124 area.
The park features a concrete-slab shelter providing some shade, but natural shade is limited and many visitors express a wish for more trees. A water fountain for dogs is available (depending on its operational status), and the area is set up for easy leash transitions. Pet owners should stay vigilant for local plant hazards such as goat heads and Datura. Free parking is available on-site, making it easy for residents and pet lovers to stop by with their pups.
Nice spot but not maintained, the goat head plants look like carpeting along the sides of the fencing and there’s no shade. Also fences are very short, I think my dog could clear them if she wanted to.

The only shade you’ll find is at the front of the park under what looks like a huge bus stop on a concrete slab. Some large trees throughout the park would be so much nicer.

It’s nice to have this space for the fur babies to run around. The downsize is people don’t seem to respect the space and pick up after their pooches poop! Which is a shame. Probably the same people who don’t return their shopping carts lol
Be careful; There’s a lot of stickers to get stuck in their paws.
There is state and a working water fountain for the pups.

Park is very overgrown, many people don’t pick up after their pets (not sure if there were baggies as I always bring my own), water fountain doesn’t work, because the ground is pebbles it gets pretty hot, not much shade aside from the small building so could definitely use some more trees, and the building itself is damaged. Just not kept up by the city parks and rec. Good size and fully fenced so my dog could still safely get energy out, but would like to see our city taking better care of our parks.
