Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]

Located at 4401 Forest Hill Ave, Phideaux Dog Park offers a convenient spot for dog owners in Richmond, Virginia, to exercise and socialize their furry friends. Situated adjacent to Forest Hill Park, visitors can easily enjoy not only the dog park but also the scenic pet-friendly trails nearby, making it a great starting point for dog-friendly hiking adventures in the RVA area.
The park features a small fenced area where dogs can safely play off-leash. There’s also water access with a hose and puppy pool to keep your pups cool during hot days. The park is equipped with a double-gated entry for extra security, and poop bags are provided, although some guests note the absence of nearby trash bins. While there isn’t a dedicated area separating small and large dogs, the park is big enough for dogs to run and play together. Visitors mention that the park is busier on weekends and adjacent to miles of walking trails. Please note that some maintenance issues with the fencing and weeds have been reported.
Took my dog here since my backyard isn’t fully fenced in and wanted him to be able to run around. He’s a small 13lb chihuahua terrier mix. There were big holes in the fence and multiple gaps in different places that he could fit through and escape. It hasn’t been maintained properly. The weeds are so long in some areas it makes me nervous about tics. I wouldn’t take my dog here again unless the fence was repaired.
Not really a dog park, just a really small fenced area “designated” for dogs
Nice clean park. Double hated entry to make it easier to get dogs in and out. Poop bags available which is always nice. No nearby trash cans that I noticed which was the only downside. Lots of toys, pools….ya know. A dog park.
Cute quite dog park. You can use the hose coming from the building behind the entrance for water. It’s big enough for them too run around and play. I went on a Sunday and it was fairly busy. There were big dogs and small dogs all together. It’s nice that it’s right by the Forest hills park too so you have access to miles of walking trails.
Pups love the puppy pool and water access. Be sure to clean up after your pups. How very nice of the church to allow our pals a place to frolic!
