FAQ for Sher wintle memorial dog park in Red Bluff California:
Im giving it a 5 star because im grateful to find a safe park for my 20 lb dog. Many piles made by large dogs were left behind. Please, people, clean up after your dogs.Needed mowing. The locks on the gates were odd to my way of thinking, and i pinched my hand, trying to lift it. Be careful. They had a basket for toys and poo bags. Always appreciated. The parking lot was bad. Drive slowly, or you might get hurt.
Dog park is in the northeast corner of Trainor Park. A little hard to find if you don’t know it’s there. Parking right in front. Two sections- one for large dogs and one for small. Double gate entry for safety. Four foot tall chain link fence around both, so not for jumpers. A large grassy area with a couple of picnic tables.
Lots of space for you to let your dog play. Safe enclosed areas for big dogs and for little dogs as well. There are baseball fields and a children’s playground nearby with a public bathroom that was clean and maintained really well. Lots of trees with little benches and scattered picnic tables.
There is no dog park, so it’s baffling why there claims to be one. We have been there dozens of times, walked around the entire park, and there no dog park. Never even seen a single dog in the entire park to even ask another dog owner where it light be. There are 2 parts of the park partially fenced off that are baseball fields, and that’s it. The rest is non-enclosed grass and a playground. I only started going to have my dog interact with other dogs, since he loves in a house of cats, and never once has there been a dog anywhere on the premises, and we’ve only gone on moderate to warm sunny days, at prime times people would naturally have their dogs out at a park. Pretty park for picnics and gatnerings..shaded and well kept, except the baseball field with the cement seating seating that’s gross, covered in graffiti, filth, and random clothing.
I don’t have a pet; however, what I’ve observed is: great place for dogs to run free in a large fenced area. Most owners are good about picking up their pets poop. I think it would b much better with shade trees not only for the owners to stay cool but the dogs might need it too. Maybe that’s why I see so many people walking their dogs at Trainor Park behind the large baseball field along Vista Way at the pull out, there are shade trees there. The big problem there is they don’t pick up the poop. Try planting trees at the dog park & see if that helps with this problem !!!
