🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
West Branch Dog Park, located conveniently on Rock Spring Road at the entrance to West Branch State Park Campground in Ravenna, Ohio, is a popular, well-maintained off-leash destination for local dog owners. This dog park stands out among pet-friendly parks in Ravenna thanks to its beautiful, spacious grounds and designated play areas for both large and small breeds. Large dogs have extra space to roam, while small pups enjoy their own secure area, making the park welcoming for all sizes and temperaments.
West Branch Dog Park features several amenities appreciated by visitors: picnic tables, benches, and a small pond where water-loving dogs can splash around. The park is wheelchair accessible, with designated parking and entrance routes for added convenience. While the lake access is a unique perk, visitors should note that there is very little natural shade and no running water on-site, so bring plenty of water for both you and your furry friend. Be prepared for mosquitos near the pond and remember to keep an eye out if fishing is ongoing, as lines and hooks can pose hazards to pets.
Very well maintained dog park. Located on Rock Spring Road at the entrance to West Branch State Park Campground.
Separate areas for small dogs (less than 25 pounds) and large dogs (more than 25 pounds). The large dog area is considerably larger than the small dog area. This gives these big guys plenty of room to run around.
There are no facilities or running water. So be prepared.
There are a couple of picnic tables inside the dog areas. But other than that, no other places to sit. Also very little shade. Area was very clean and well taken care of.
Was camping at West Branch State Park and it looked like a great spot to see the full moon so we decided to take the dog up to the bark park. Nice spot, had a separate area for smaller dogs like mine, only thing is there is a pond near by and boy oh boy it’s a mosquito pit! I got ate alive! If you’re taking your pup here for a visit make sure you have some kind of way to keep mosquitoes away!
We had a little dog birthday party here.
Lovely park, lots of room to play, benches and picnic tables.
Nice quiet area, areas for big and small dogs.
Be careful letting dogs swim in the pond people came by and started fishing which can be a hazard to your pets if lines/hooks are left in the water or on shore.
LOVED this dog park! The only downside was my pup had SO much fun he sliced all his paw pads up around the pond area. There is a lot of poop not picked up/ but also the bag dispensers were empty both times we went. However it’s a great size dog park and I love that the water access was fenced in also.
Love this dog park! The little lake is a nice addition and it’s great that’s it’s separated from the main park.
Always super clean, all of the other dogs we’ve met have been nice 😊 though we’re usually the only ones there
