Located in the heart of Federal Hill, St. John’s Park offers dog owners in Providence, RI a welcoming and pet-friendly escape. This small but charming park is known for its cleanliness, accessibility, and peaceful atmosphere. Whether you’re a local looking for a place to unwind with your furry companion or a visitor exploring pet-friendly spaces near downtown, this park provides a tranquil outdoor experience.
The park includes plenty of benches and several game tables, making it a pleasant place for owners to relax while their dogs explore the area on-leash. A historic monument to Giovanni da Verrazzano lends a unique character, and there’s ample shade to keep both you and your pet cool on sunny days. St. John’s Park is also wheelchair accessible and is considered good for both kids and pets.
I came from France to see this monument to G. Verrazzano. The same monument is located in Dieppe in France, where his expedition left! Both monuments were donated by the city of Florence in Italy, where Verrazzano was born.
Quiet place to hang out
Came here and watched the eclipse. Nice quiet afternoon
A very small park, that offers lots of benches and a few Game tables to enjoy a sunny day outside.
A tiny but cute park in the middle of Federal Hill. It’s usually pretty clean, although you might have to watch your step for dog poop (it has greatly improved in this aspect the past couple years). There’s a few benches and a couple of chessboards, and an interesting monument to Giovanni da Verrazzano and his place in RI history. A nice place to enjoy the outdoors without straying too far if you live on Fed Hill.
