Looking for a scenic and pet-friendly trail in Pottstown, PA? Fox Hill Trailhead offers dog owners a welcoming spot for hiking with their furry companions. This popular trail is open to both children and dogs, making it a great choice for families and pet lovers alike. The trail is especially well-known for its beautiful scenery in the spring and fall, with a pleasant atmosphere for exploring the outdoors with your pup.
While Fox Hill Trailhead is an excellent destination for dog walks, note that some sections may be muddy after rain due to drainage, and a portion of the trail is currently inaccessible due to private property markings. Entry points and parking can also be limited, so plan accordingly and prepare for a true nature experience. The trail is also undergoing reforestation efforts, offering a unique look at local conservation in action.
Great hiking trail and well maintained. But… Entered the Fox Hill trail head from Hanover St. Unfortunately it doesn’t go all the way through to the Maugers Mill trail head. When you get to the bench the trail goes to a private driveway and you can’t find the trail that goes to the Mauger’s Mill end trail head. So we then drove to the Mauger Mill Fox Hill trail head only to find no trail entrance. There is a sign at what looks like there was a trail but is all grown over. I went up to the sign and barely touched it and it fell over. Please see photos.
Very well planned trail with amazing scenery, especially in the spring and fall seasons. However, a huge issue is that you can no longer walk the entire length of the trail anymore. An entire 700 foot section of the trail has been marked as private property with signs and is no longer maintained. Due to this, The Maugers Mill trailhead is rendered useless, with a private property sign being at the start of the trail. The only way you can walk the trail is by entering through the dangerous Hanover street trailhead (with no parking btw) and once you get to the middle “hub” where the paths for all three trailheads meet, you turn left to walk down to a housing development’s trailhead. You could also just turn around once you get to the hub. Very disappointing considering the trail’s potential is very high, but I hope the township can re-acquire the section with eminent domain.
Additionally, the trail is undergoing the current process of reforestation due to an approximate 80% of tree cover being affected by ash borers, so there’s some parts of the trail with the unpleasant view of chopped down trees.
Great place
5 stars
Nice little cut through trail, but very muddy from poor drainage
