Located conveniently near the Potsdam Humane Society at 17 Madrid Ave, Potsdam, NY, the Potsdam Community Dog Park is a welcoming spot for dog owners and their furry companions in St. Lawrence County. This dog park in Potsdam, New York, features a generously sized, fully fenced area where dogs have plenty of space to run, play ball, and socialize off-leash. The area includes dirt, wood chips, and patches of overgrown grass, along with lots of mature trees providing natural shade. Park regulars highlight the friendly and responsible dog community, making it an enjoyable place even for newcomers.
Potsdam Community Dog Park features several helpful amenities, such as benches, chairs, a picnic table, and agility-style obstacles for pets to explore. There are numerous poo bag stations and trash bins placed throughout, so the area stays clean and inviting. Water bowls and jugs are occasionally available, and parking can be accessed via the humane society or an alternate driveway (though it can be confusing on your first visit). The park doesn’t charge a fee and is appreciated for its accessibility and convenience for travelers and locals alike.
This place is pretty kick ass. My dog use to the dog parks at truck stops so when she got in this one she bout lost her mind. Plenty of f room to run and play ball was clean and well maintained. People when ya use it please help them and pick up after your pet and yourself there are plenty of trash cans. Nice job here Potsdam. Dixie and I will definitely be back
Brought my dog by on a day there was yard work going on. It was my first time there. I’m not sure if it just happened to fall on the day we went, but I didn’t see anything online indicating the park might be closed for maintenance. So, we weren’t able to go to the larger dog area because it was being mowed. We spent a few minutes in the smaller gated-off section. There was a downed section of the gate which kind of made it unusable. And while the area had been mostly mowed, ripped-apart toys and balls from being mowed over instead of being picked up meant there were lots of small pieces of rubber and other toy bits that could cause choking. Picked up what I could but the entire area just really wasn’t suitable for playing in at that time. Additionally, the shelter dogs nearby started barking as we got out of the car. Not sure if they could see us and we were disturbing them by being nearby. But the aggressive barking from nearby distressed my dog so much that we had to leave. (It’s not the shelter’s dogs’ fault!! They live in a high-stress environment. They are no way at fault.)
Thrilled there was a dog park to take my service dog while I was in town and had to wait 3 hours between doctor appointments. We were the only ones there on 31 Oct 2022. Lots of trees and large area for dogs to run and play.
Very large area for dogs to run and play. There are a lot of regulars, too, and everyone I’ve met are welcoming of newcomers and are very aware of their dogs’ needs/behaviors so, for example, will interject before a fight breaks out. There are a lot of well-thought out rules that help keep everyone safe and dogs happy
Cute little park. Was a hard to find the entrance. You can either pull into the humane society and go towards the back or use the other non-marked sketchy driveway.
Parking was a little confusing. But, since I was the only one there I just winged it. The dog area is pretty big. There are a few “obstacles,” chairs, benches and a picnic table. The area is part dirt/wood chips and overgrown grass. There was some water jugs and water bowls available.
Scattered around are plenty dog poop bag stations which was really nice! I didn’t notice any lingering poop on the ground from other park-goers!
The place could use a little cleaning up, but still nice to have this in the area.
