Portsmouth Dog Park offers a friendly, off-leash environment for pups to stretch their legs and socialize in the scenic heart of Portsmouth, NH. This clean and well-maintained dog park features an expansive, sandy area ideal for energetic play, as well as a separate section for small dogs. Though the small dog area is quite compact, the main space is long enough for bigger breeds to run and play. The park is especially valued for its convenient location near Parrott Ave, with ample parking and nearby amenities.
A distinctive feature is the park’s sandy base, which is cozy but may not be ideal for every pup. There is limited grass (a small patch in one corner), and shade is mostly found in a modest covered shelter, making it a good spot for a quick rest during sunny days. Water fountains and trash receptacles are just outside the main fenced area, with portapotties available for owners. Lighting is present, so the park remains usable during the same hours as the adjacent tennis and playground areas. If you’re looking for a dog-friendly space in Portsmouth, this park offers convenience and a welcoming local vibe.
Not from the area, just vacationed nearby. Found this dog park on google. Parking was a bit hectic and my pup didn’t quite like the sand. But he enjoyed meeting a couple of new doggie friends.
Nice sandy park. Small, but cozy
Water bubbler and trash is outside the park space.
Lights present, so dog park remains open same as the tennis and playground.
Plenty of parking and portapotties too!
This is a great dog park. It’s large and more important long. They also have a small dog section. My 9-month-old Australian Shepherd gets her exercise there.
There are way better dog parks but this one is located in a nice area w parking nearby. It’s almost all sand and the only shade is a small covered area. The there is a triangle of grass in one corner of the large area. The small dig area is inconsequential. I don’t know why people think small dog areas should be tiny but this one doesn’t allow much room for small dogs to run.
What totally appalled me was all the poop in the grass areas surrounding the fenced park. It’s gross. it appears that many dogs have defecated outside the fenced area and their caretakers have abandoned the poop. I found it appalling.
This is one of our favorite dog parks. It’s clean, well maintained and just the right size for them to spend some energy.
