Durham City Park is a tucked-away gem in the heart of Portland, Oregon, beloved for its friendly neighborhood vibe and pet-friendly atmosphere. The park features a large open field perfect for letting dogs stretch their legs, as well as well-maintained walking and running paths that loop around the park. With both asphalt and natural trail options, you and your pet can enjoy a leisurely stroll or an invigorating hike surrounded by beautiful trees and occasional shade. The off-leash area is spacious, clean, and frequented by responsible, friendly dog owners, making it a top spot for dog lovers in the Portland area.
Families will appreciate the additional amenities, including a children’s playground, picnic tables, a covered seating area, water fountains, and a small parking lot. While the off-leash dog area is not fenced, regular visitors rave about the relaxed, respectful atmosphere that makes everyone feel at home. The park connects seamlessly to local trails and neighboring parks, enhancing your options for dog-friendly hiking and year-round outdoor fun.
Absolutely gorgeous little park. This park is made for all family members from all ages. Dog friendly and very clean.
Suits for small & older kids. My daughter had a great time & engaged for 1hr. There is trail & lease free dog area as well. Also few picnic tables available along with a shaded picnic area
This park was great for my dog. Way exceeded expectations for a dog park. The off leash area was extremely clean and all owners were very friendly and responsible with their dogs. It’d be great if the off leash area were fenced, or if the walking paths surrounding the asphalt were off leash as well. But overall we loved the size of the grassy area and had a great experience with the other dogs and owners.. we will definitely be back!
The parks here never cease to charm and surprise me. This park may look small on a map, but it has SO much to offer. Plus, it connects to Cook Park where there’s a great boat launch. The off-leash dog park is big with perfectly placed benches for comfort, the trails are both paved and natural so you can “pick your adventure”, and there’s private river access for a quiet afternoon.
Small but Full of Heart
Durham Park may be small, but it’s absolutely delightful. It has a cozy, tucked-away feel that makes it perfect for a quiet walk or a quick outing with your dog. There’s an open field where dogs can stretch their legs and play, and a sweet little playground where kids can enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.
You can reach it easily through Cook Park or from Tualatin, and the people who visit are always friendly and respectful — it has that genuine neighborhood vibe that makes you feel welcome right away.
It’s not a big, showy park, but that’s part of its charm — a simple, peaceful spot that reminds you how lovely the small places can be.
