Launched kayaks from this park to make the trip to Turnip Island. Easy launch from parking lot to beach. Lots of parking without fees. Wonderful view of the water and nice place for a picnic or BBQ. I found it interesting that they provided life jackets at this park with an easygoing take-return policy. I did use one because I had apparently left mine at home. I brought it back but I love the idea of this and plan to donate a few on my next visit which I am hoping will be very soon. The park was clean and quiet. It does have bathrooms and showers on site which were also very clean. It takes about two hours to get to turnip island from this point just rowing casually. I would say you need moderate physical ability to make the trip up there and you will want to go early in the day because it is hard to navigate at night. Thank you to the people maintaining this park you are doing a great job!

The perfect launching spot for kayaking to turnip rock. The park is nice for kids, water pad to run around on warm days, plenty of open space to release energy. There is a public restroom as well as showers for rinsing off after a day at the sandy beach.

We enjoyed the Bird Creek Park playground and beach. The playground equipment was wooden with metal slides, and we had a good time on both the tire and regular swings. The beach was nice and peaceful, despite it being December. The splash pad looks like it would be fun in the warmer weather. There was a dead bird laying on the beach and another near the playground, which was not great.

It’s a beautiful park where you can swim or just walk around on the sandy beach. A popular idea is to launch a kayak from here and paddle over to Turnip Rock. Its a great place to bring an acoustic guitar and write songs too. The boardwalk is really pretty and we can see the lighthouse from the beach. The parking lot has plenty of room and the parking is free. They have BBQ Grills, Picnic Tables, Chairs, a Porta potty, a Playground all ready to go and the views are breathtaking if you just want to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
