Much it was closed when we were there. Although the view was nice.

Lovely hike that leads to the river, however If you have bad knees or not a lot of physical endurance I do not reccomend because its all down hill on the way down and all uphill on the way up with a couple of flat ground spots but worth the 1.1mi route down and 1.1 mi back up 2.3 mi total

Lovely river at the bottom, but it’s not worth it to me. It’s 90% steep downhill/uphill and not really enjoyable unless you’re a masochist 😅100% recommend a walking stick. I forgot mine and thank Jesus I found a nice one half way back up.

A great trail. The upper part is paved, the lower is improved dirt.

Finally hiked the Red Shack/Old Flume Trail and it absolutely took my breath away – both literally and figuratively! Be prepared for a steep climb back up that gets your heart pumping. The views are worth it. Once near the river, trails follow historic mining ditches, offering a fascinating glimpse into California’s gold rush era.The sound of rushing water accompanies you throughout much the hike, and the vegetation is stunning – featuring lush ferns and native plants that create a vibrant green corridor along the path.I enjoyed poking around near remnants of old mining operations while hiking through this historical landscape.Fair warning: parking is limited, so arrive early. But once you’re on the trail, the combination of natural beauty, local history, and invigorating terrain makes this trail a must-do for any hiking enthusiast. Just come with plenty of time & water – both for exploring and making the climb!

It was 3.3 miles total, so a little over a mile to get one way….Took me and the pup about 30 mins to get down to the water, and about an hour to hike back up. Took plenty of shade breaks on the way out, its about 15-20 degree incline and about 78 degrees out in mid September…. The water was gorgeous and we got in and got nice n cool before the hike out
