If i could give Dog Stop in Upper St. Clair zero stars I would. I made a grooming appointment one month ago. I took the day off work. I received an appointment reminder via text messaging yesterday. I medicated my dog 30 min before the appointment as he has much anxiety when it comes to getting groomed. I arrive at my designated appointment time & told the lady at the desk my dog’s name. She said, “i see he’s here for a grooming appointment. We don’t have a groomer”. I explained that I received a confirmation email & text when I made the appointment & also received an appointment reminder text yesterday. She kept shrugging her shoulders & looked completely annoyed with me. She said,”i don’t know what you want me to do. Someone should’ve called you”. I went on to explain I took the day off work & medicated my dog. She just kept shrugging her shoulders then rolled her eyes. This is unacceptable customer service. If this is how this she treats people, I can’t imagine how she treats the animals. I will never take any of my dogs to this establishment ever again. I highly recommend other pet owners avoid this place as well. Very disrespectful & unprofessional.

I have waited a while to write this review. I took my dog to The Dog Stop from the time she was 4 months old until she was just over a year. She is a highly energetic golden retriever and always seemed happy to go. The cracks in the armor started showing when she increasingly spent more and more time in “time out” – sometimes immediately upon our arrival. I was once told that her energy was too much for the room she was in, which is a very odd comment for a place touted as a daycare. I also started noticing way too many dogs in each room and the handlers seemed totally disengaged – except there were clearly “favorites” – and she was not one of them. I also noticed new young staff that were very eager, happy and energetic on their first day, look worn out, stressed and miserable after a week working there. There are no limits to the amount of dogs they take so there are often 30+ dogs for one handler to deal with and that’s just too much. I do know that she is energetic – she is a puppy – but they stuck her in a cage because I think it was just “too much trouble” for them. I even stuck it out there after a dear friend had a dog attacked there and got seriously wounded. She and I have since talked and the way they handled that was abhorrent. The final straw was a phone call I received that she started a fight. I was so upset as that was not her nature and I asked for a video. I wanted to do whatever she needed to correct this behavior, but I was told that they were not allowed to show videos (even though the manager had sent me one of her one time that was funny). They asked me to keep her out for a few days and to “get her some training”. I now take her somewhere that limits the amount of dogs they take. Reservations are required and everyone seems consistently happy there. I have asked (often) if she behaves and if she is “too much”. They say she has been great and they just make sure to pair her with other high energy dogs. It’s clear they are careful in how they group the dogs together – not just throw them in a room based on size. I see the handlers at drop off and pick up and they are genuinely happy to see her. No one tells me how bad she is, and she hasn’t had a bout of diarrhea since she has been going (she had many stomach problems while going to Dog Stop). I didn’t know what I didn’t know until I started going somewhere else, but I’m glad I left and my dog is happier too. Do yourself a favor and shop around before you take your dog here.

Not only do my boyfriend and I love The Dog Stop, our fur baby loves it there. Fiona has so many friends and loves going to ‘school’. This past December, she was dog of the month and she got a free day!! The staff is so friendly and knows our car and have her checked in before she is out of the car!

I can’t say enough good things about The Dog Stop – Upper St. Clair! They are always so kind and accommodating, making the entire boarding process stress-free. One of the standout features for us is that they offer options for reactive dogs, which is rare to find at other facilities. It’s such a relief knowing my dog, Tyson, can be cared for in a way that suits his needs.

Tyson absolutely loves it there, and I always feel at ease leaving him, knowing he’s in good hands. Their variety of activities keeps him happy and entertained throughout his stay. We wouldn’t take our dog anywhere else! Highly recommend them for any dog owners looking for a safe, friendly, and flexible boarding option

Our dog seemed to thoroughly enjoy her time there. When greeted in the early morning, the staff was ready to handle her playfulness, and when picking her up they gave us a nice rundown of the day with her as it was her first time. She seemed very happy when picked up, but also seemed like she wanted to go back in and play which is a good sign.

Update: She always has a great time here. Every time I bring her in, she can’t wait to get back and seems ready to jump over the counter! Great staff here!
