Oregon Bar is a standout dog park within the beautiful scenery of Pilot Hill, California. This unique spot offers pet-friendly trails, a large, well-maintained fenced area for dogs, and separate sections for small and large breeds. The park sits alongside scenic hiking routes and the South Fork of the American River, making it perfect for active dog owners seeking both exercise and relaxation amid native oak trees and forest environments. The grounds are mostly dirt and well-shaded by mature trees, creating a naturally cool spot during the hot months. With ample seating, water for both people and dogs, and walking trails that welcome leashed pets, Oregon Bar has become a favorite for local dog lovers and travelers alike.
Aside from its dedicated dog park, Oregon Bar is surrounded by miles of dog-friendly hiking and biking trails, stunning river views, and easy access to swimming spots for experienced swimmers. Amenities include conveniently provided poop bags, waste pickup tools, misters for hot days, and a large free parking lot near the trailhead. It’s a welcoming and active community space where dog owners help keep the park tidy and running smoothly year-round.
I’ve been swimming here 1-3 times a week for 2 years. Best river beaches in Auburn. Endless exploring to do on the trails. Not much fishing anymore though. Not for beginner swimmers. If you’re daring, there are Native American grindstones scattered throughout the area, some of them on the other side of the river. All of these videos/images below are from different parts of Oregon bar to showcase the diversity it holds.
This is such a breathtaking place. The sound of the river brings peace to the soul… not to mention the numerous trails around that take you on beautiful little journeys. Highly recommend this place!!
Great take out. Long hike but very smooth road. There is a picnic table near the water that is a nice place to wait with kids.
Very beautiful trail with a great river view. It’s a bit of a walk downhill at the start, so be prepared to walk a mile uphill on the way back. Instead of paying for the paid lot, make sure you drive farther down past it to get to the free parking lot that’s closer to the trail beginning.
The start of an awesome trail that goes quite long but only easy to moderate difficulty. Mostly flat ground that doesn’t require any difficult technique. Very dry gravely and well marked and defined. Beautiful views over Thanksgiving weekend. Some parking spots here too by driving down the gravely road if you want to avoid some of the walking up and down hill.
