FAQ for Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park in Pilot Hill California:
There are few different levels and length hiking trail in the areas. No entrance fee with big parking lot. Some trail to south fork of american river.
Great place for hiking, biking, and exploring. Not too rocky, some trails are mellow while others can be steep. If you go in the summer, be sure to start before 9 or 10 am, because the temperature can get up to 100 degrees. This trail particularly at the start doesn’t have much shade. There is great access to the south fork American river, which you’ll see kayakers and rafters. Beware of horses, which are common, as well as rattlesnakes. If you want to hike many miles, you can take this trail all the way to acorn creek and salmon falls, which I recommend for mountain bikers (but it does include rocky terrain and steep, continuous incline). This trail is 30 minutes from El Dorado Hills and Auburn, and 15 minutes from Placerville. This trail also includes an old movie set about a mile or 2 down the main trail.
Had a great time here hiking. Very beautiful. Wish we were here maybe two weeks sooner to catch the beautiful blooms. We were just on the tail end of everything but still very beautiful here.
Great and easy hike, although the trail was washed out in one area, where the river was a little too high, this was expected though, since we just had a few days of heavy rain
A Hidden Gem for Nature LoversThis trail is absolutely stunning! The mountain views are breathtaking, and the slopes provide just the right amount of challenge for hikers. The paths are well-marked and varied, ranging from rocky climbs to smooth, scenic roads surrounded by beautiful nature. It’s a perfect spot for those looking to combine adventure with amazing photo opportunities. Just make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water, as some of the slopes can be steep. Highly recommend this trail for anyone who loves the outdoors!
I love this trail! For anyone looking for an open space to run, walk, sightseeing with friends and family! Cronan Ranch offers a wide variety of trails for hikers, bikers, and equestrians. I was told there was a movie set at this very trail. By the old rundown hut. (See photo) Entitled, Love Comes Softly. Which I googled & verified. Does Katherine Heigl ring a bell? I wonder if she’ll ever come back to revisit this trail? Come and see! Happy Trails, everyone!
This is a trail that walks with a dog at least once every two weeks, and it’s a natural trail that walks along the mountain path along the river.First of all, it’s a course with a lot of stones on the red soil road, and it’s hard to wear running shoes, so I recommend wearing tracking shoes at least, and I think boots that cover your ankles would be good. It’s an intermediate level, and there’s a course that needs some around at the beginning, so you have to be careful. There are many people who ride bikes on weekends, so if you’re going to walk without your dog’s leash, you need to be a little careful.
