🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions

Reservoir Park is a popular pet-friendly destination located at 601 Franklin Ave in Phoenixville, PA. The park features a designated dog park area, making it a fantastic spot for local dog owners seeking open, off-leash play and socialization. While the large dog area is currently closed for renovations (being turned into a skate park), the small dog enclosure remains open with ample space for pups to run. Be aware that the terrain is a bit rugged, with uneven ground, holes, and natural obstacles, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
In addition to the dog park, Reservoir Park offers a range of family-friendly amenities including hiking and kid-friendly trails, a playground, picnic tables, disc golf, and a bike park. The dog run provides fresh water via a spigot and bowls, and there’s shade from mature trees—an appreciated perk on sunny days. Although there isn’t a direct paved path, parking is available and the park is accessible for families, kids, and their four-legged companions.
Great for biking, hiking, and disc golf! Also a great dog park and community garden area!
It was windy last Saturday right off the river but a really nice place!
Disc golf course is great for intermediate players. Bike park looks quite cool, and there is a community garden + dog park.
Very cool dog park. There is a water fountain outside of it (up near the bike park). It is so nice to have trees and shade in a dog park! Yes, it seems a little overgrown, but that does add to its charm
The large dog side is being turned into a skate park and moved. So only the small dog side is available for the next little bit (large dog side closes 10/8/2022) while it’s big in there, the actual enclosure needs serious landscaping. Huge holes, big mounds, rocks, branches, it’s a mess. And it’s end of summer when it should be nice. It’s not like the end of a long hard winter.
They do provide fresh water at a valve and a few dog bowls but that’s it. There is no path to get there and it’s a good distance from the parking. You have to walk thru the disc golf area and we got yelled at for being in the way even tho there was no path or anything for us to walk on.
Dog enjoyed it bc hey it’s running in an enclosed big space, but it’s not a dog park I’d recommend to anyone.
