FAQ for Popham Beach State Park in Phippsburg Maine:
Fantastic sandy beach. If you go at low tide, you can walk out into the ocean. Lovely views. There has been quite a bit of erosion- climate change in action.
The beach is beautiful and huge during low tide. You can walk across the sandbar to Fox Island. If you go right at the entrance to the beach, you can cross the Morse River and access Seawall Beach and skip the 2mi hike (just make sure to get back in time before the tide changes).
Nice beach. Soft sand and lots of space. The cost was a bit much since they charged us per person, instead of per car. So for 3 adults and 4 kids it was 29 bucks. I guess you get charged more if you have guests from out of town. However, after paying the fee we found out the bath houses weren’t working. Not fun coming home with sand everywhere. 😕
Great beach and great Ranger service members. Low cost to enter/park. Actually parking lot that is not all broken like much of maine. Clean beach with soft sand. Good wash/restroom facilities. Good times
This is a beautiful spot to spend the day with your family! During low tide you can let your kids safely swim and find seashells and sand dollars. As a local if you plan to come in the summer months go early in the day as it gets packed.
