Discover Bayfront Park (West), a welcoming dog park in Petoskey, Michigan, situated along the picturesque shores of Little Traverse Bay. This scenic park features a large open grassy field perfect for playful pups, a rocky shoreline, and access to the beautiful Little Traverse Wheelway for pet-friendly walks and hikes. With a quiet atmosphere just away from the main Bayfront Park, it’s a favorite for locals and visitors seeking a peaceful spot to relax with their dogs and enjoy breathtaking sunsets over the bay.
Bayfront Park (West) offers amenities such as picnic tables, public restrooms, and ample parking. The park is wheelchair accessible, making it easy for everyone to enjoy. Kids are welcome, and dog owners especially appreciate the large open space for exercise and the easy access to swimming for both humans (from the deck near the lighthouse) and pets. The park’s maintained green spaces, views, and direct connection to local trails make it a top destination for dog-friendly activities and outings in Petoskey.
Tucked away from the main Bayfront Park, this park has a large field and a rocky shoreline. It’s an excellent place to watch a sunset.
A nice little park where you can look for Petoskey stones or just enjoy the view. Also, there’s a little pier you can walk out on!
Well maintained park on Little Traverse Bay. Ample parking and access via the Little Traverse Wheelway. Quiet open grassy area. Not as popular as Water Front Park but just as beautiful. Great for a picnic and taking in the natural beauty of water, green and sky.
Neat, small park just a bit away from the large Bayfront Park. There are a few picnic tables and a restroom. The restrooms did not look accessible though as there is some construction nearby (Oct 2022). What I found online said that there are some improvements to be done to the beach at the end, and the construction might be for that. Even though the park is small, it seemed popular with dog owners since there is a large open space for the dogs to play. The park also connects to the Little Traverse Wheelway.
What an amazing place to visit. I live in North Carolina, and it was a great surprise to discover more than a dozen amazing things to do in this park area. Grab your swimming suits when you go. You can jump and go swimming from the deck near the lighthouse. We visited on September 21st, and both the weather and the water temperature were perfect.
