Garden of the Dogs – Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado

Located on W Stewart Ave inside Peterson Space Force Base, Garden of the Dogs is a popular dog park for military families and residents seeking a dog-friendly spot in Colorado Springs. This off-leash park offers plenty of space for dogs to run and play, with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly regulars. The dog park sits right next to a children’s playground, making it convenient for families with both kids and pups.

While the park is praised for its community vibe and energetic canine visitors, visitors should be aware that there’s limited official parking—most people park on the red dirt outside the entrance. There is currently no water fountain or water bowls for dogs, so be sure to bring your own especially on hot Colorado days. Seating is available, though shaded options are lacking. Access to the park requires base entry, and users are expected to pick up after their pets though poop bags are not always provided.

Needs to be better maintained and users need to be more responsible. Lots of poo and lots of holes where people just let their dog have at it. Also, lots of toys left behind.

Doesnt always have doggy bags but it is an owners responsibility to pick up poop and it’s rarely ever done. They also really need to put in a water bowl for the dogs. I bring water most times but it would be a great addition.

Our only complaint was there was no water tap for the dogs. If it’s a hoot day, just bring some for the dogs. Oh, and all the benches they have, none are in the shade! Other than that everything was pretty nice. Nice neighborhood and people using the park. It’s on base so you need access. Nice for the dogs to run around and get some energy out.

The park is fine, but there is no parking for cars. We have a basset hound. We could walk her there, but she would be too tired to play once she arrived. Also, a water fountain for the dogs would be great! Our last duty station had huge dog parks with water fountains for the dogs. It was great because we didn’t have to bring our own.

This is one of the nicest parks I’ve been to. Everyone is very respectful with their dogs and kids have a playground next to it so that they aren’t getting bumped by dogs playing. I always park on the red dirt outside the entrance door, I see gov and pov on there all the time. The dogs think it has the best smells, and a couple spots to dig even. Excellent park
