Great State Park on the shoreline of Lake Michigan in the city of Pentwater. Beautiful sand beach. Walkable pier including the ability to walk the channel between Lake Michigan to Pentwater Lake.

The campground was fun! It is a pretty big one though, and since there are no trees, there’s pretty much no privacy between you and your neighbors. There were a ton of families with kids; I would recommend this spot if you are social, or if you are bringing your kids. It was pretty poppin, but not too crazy or anything! There are multiple play structures for kids and also a little free library with children’s books, which I thought was super cute. The beach is RIGHT there and it’s beautiful, and there is a dog friendly section too. Beautiful spots to watch the sunset. The camp staff was super helpful and friendly and the little downtown area is just a 15 minute walk from the campsite and has some chill places to eat, get a beer, and shop. Very charming and I had a good experience here.

Wonderful sandy beach and campsite. Campsite sites are nestled in-between sand drifts and the grasses and trees keeping everything from drifting away. Very clean and modern bathrooms. This was our second visit. Will definitely be back again.

That state park’s gorgeous, but it’s always windy because of the lake. Bring layers, even if the forecast looks warm! BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS!!

In the off season the park is still a pleasure to visit. You can walk the beach and out on the pier. You can wander through the empty campsites and venture up the stairs to Old Baldy. We love it!
