A nice place to take a good walk out in the woods for some fresh air. The herring run starts up around the second week in April for a couple weeks and you’ll see thousands of herring swimming around. You can literally catch them with your hands that’s how many there are during the time they run through

Great spot to just go stroll around and enjoy some fresh air. A big rock for kids to climb on if they are daring enough. And if you catch it at the right time you can see so many herring! Me fish ladder and other work being done.
They do the fish fry here every year as well. That’s a lot of fun.
There is also trails across the street I noticed last time I was there that I need to go check out!

Really nice park to come & watch the herring run. Peak herring season is in April – that’s when you have the best chance of seeing them run. Plenty of parking here & this park is a great spot to relax even when the herring aren’t running.

I love Beaver but blocking the herring from spawning is not cool. I believe it’s all volunteer work and they take care of it every year. I hear that beaver dams I believe are a new issue to resolve every year now. Long walks through brushy terrain that is usually water up to your chin. Amazing stories
My kids and I can’t get enough this park. I love the herring run and getting to see nature at work. Kids love it all and even a big rock to climb. Fish jumping, osprey diving for food and that relaxing rushing watefallesque ambiance. Stunningly beautiful with plenty of stuff for adults/kids to explore, signage explaining the importance the do, don’ts.of the park, and what makes herring so valuable to this planet.
On a grand scheme this park may look small but the ecosystem it creates and nurtures is unfathomable. Nature, history and entertainment mixed together. Have a picnic date, play with the kids, relax but don’t bring your fishing pole or net.
