FAQ for Blue Mountain Park in Peekskill New York:
Nice trails. Moderate walking paths. Scenic views
This is a great place to hike, especially during the week, when you have the place almost all to yourself. Works best to have hiking shoes (lots of rocks). Climbs are not too steep, at least from the trails I’ve seen. The Dickey Brook trail has a nice waterfall.
Place is serene, I expected it to be packed on a Saturday afternoon, to my surprise it was quite empty. Bring long pants and long sleeves, mosquitoes are on the annoying side. There’s plenty of picnic areas and tables spread across the park area and around the playground. I did the yellow/orange trail with wife and kid, it was okay, but a little too solitary and too quiet, which was kinda my fault, as it was past 5:30pm. Aside from that, I see myself coming here regularly, perfect for some quiet time, be it alone or accompanied, for reading a book, drawing, or meditating.
Beautiful park that offers a great day for families. There are playing fields; hiking trails; picnic areas; beautiful lakes with ducks and geese. If you’re into photography there are excellent nature shots. Parking is available in various places, and it’s not a big walk from Metro North Station. Town of Peekskill by the Metro North Station has some very nice restaurants, and the park on the Hudson is very nice.
Very scenic and secluded park. I didn’t find more than half a dozen people in this huge park. Very good for vloggers who would want to have a quiet time away from the city to shoot. This park serves everyone. It has tables, benches, barbecue, playground for children etc. We spent a couple of hours and it was blissful.
