Beautiful park, though small but has a very pretty lake filled with beautiful koi fishes. There should be some better regulation in regard to fishing. As some were spotted casting reels. Which could be harmful for the koi fish. Also a large amount of water lilies and lily pads in the corners of the lake were beautiful to look at. It also has a playground for small kids. Didn’t seem to spot a bathroom though.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved coming to this park. My mom and dad would take me on Sundays after church and we would enjoy a peaceful lunch at the picnic table area. I always especially loved watching the geese. Now as an adult, I still come from time to time even though I live about half an hour away. I make sure to come in spring to observe and photograph the cute goslings. The other day it was raining, and the goslings were cuddled up under their mamas wing. It was adorable!
Now I see in the news, (channel 7 on May 15, 2024) that the mayor and has signed a contract with the USDA to round up all the geese, including the babies, and gas them to death next month when they are molting feathers and unable to fly to safety!
His main concern is that kids will step in poop and also that the geese will hiss at them. Yes, as a child, I did step in poop. My Mom rinsed of my sandals and feet and it was no big deal. And when I was very little I did chase the geese and they hissed to get me to back off. My mom and dad explained the geese were scared of me and that as long as I respected their space and quietly watched from a few yards away, the geese were not threatened by me and did not hiss. Thank you to my wonderful parents for teaching me to love, appreciate, and respect the geese that we share this lovely little pond with.

Leaving a review specifically about the playground within Liberty Park since I didn’t see much online about it previously. This is a little gem in Peapack and Gladstone! It’s designed for smaller kids (I’d say toddler and preschool age), and was perfect for my 3-year-old. I appreciated that things were relatively low to the ground and easy for him to climb safely. The entire space is also fenced in. There’s a play structure, some smaller teeter totter structures, bucket swings, and picnic tables. We came on a Saturday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. Parking was easy, and right next to the playground. Perfect for burning some energy before a walk around the pond to see the geese.
