Sherwood Dog Park is a well-loved dog park nestled in the residential area of Paso Robles, California, just a couple of miles east of the 101. This dog-friendly park features both a large dog area and a surprisingly spacious separate area for small dogs, allowing pups of all sizes to play safely. The park is wheelchair accessible, with accessible parking, ensuring easy entry for everyone.
Both sections of the park are fully fenced and provide shaded picnic tables, plenty of open space with bark and wood chip surfaces, and access to water tubs for dogs to sip or splash in. Regular visitors highlight the friendly local dog owner community, clean grounds, and community message boards. Water is provided onsite, though there is no running water or public restrooms. Onsite parking adds to visitor convenience. Sherwood Dog Park is the perfect pit stop for travelers or a local community hub for Paso Robles residents looking for a safe, off-leash place to let their dogs socialize and play.
Great dog park!! Stopped in on the way back to the Bay Area from Cambria. There is a large and small dog area. Usually, the small dog areas are very small, but at Sherwood Dog Park, the small dog area was pretty big! The large dog area was even bigger. Both areas had a few picnic tables and shaded areas to escape the sun. There was also access to water in both areas. Everyone at the dog park was friendly and my pup got to stretch his legs for a bit before we got back in the car for the long drive home.
Great dog park! We were here for the weekend with a handful of pups and this park was absolutely perfect. So impressed by how well it is maintained and all dogs/dog owners were very friendly. Our lab loved the water tub to splash around in. If you are visiting, be sure to bring a few dollars to donate and help with upkeep! 🙂
Avoid at all costs. There are large sections of dry foxtails just waiting to get into your dogs nose, ears, or puncture into paws. Most of them stretching down the ride side, with more in the back of the park. But wind and dog feet have started to spread them all over. They actually cut green ones and left them there to dry out! This puts at risk every dog that goes here for injury and significant vet bills. And it’s entirely preventable, yet the people running this park are ok doing this and putting all the dogs at risk. Disappointing, and dangerous.
This is an excellent dog park! Huge, clean, water is provided as well as a chuckit and some balls. There are some areas with tall grass that our dogs like to walk through, and the space is otherwise covered in wood chips. It’s a couple miles to the east of 101 in a residential area. We always stop here when we visit Paso or when we come through on a long trip.
Difficult to rate because the community here is excellent. Signs of that come from both having met some people/dogs here, but also the many message boards around the park. The fact that through fundraising the park exists at all, is awesome. No running water, no bathroom is rough. The entry is a bottleneck set up where 1 gate opens to two others, which can be dangerous. The absolute worst part is that the surface is bark. It is very rough on paws. It is also a breeding ground for bacteria.
