Beautiful place, but check for possible icyness if you plan to use it for a run. I had to make my run a walk to avoid slipping.

Peaceful and pretty quiet, though you can hear the nearby highway. I never see anybody else here. The boardwalk is missing a section. Hope they put it back.

Troy Meadows is 2,500-acres and some 10 miles around with many access points. One popular trailhead is Troy Meadow Road, Parsippany.
As of 2025, there are new marked trails- (green, blue, yellow, and white trails) and trail maps at a new kiosk at the first parking lot on Troy Meadow Road. The white trail takes you over an old, narrow, elevated wagon trail, built by slaves circa 1750, through the middle of the marsh. The old road is easily accessable 9 months out of the year (overgrown from July through September).

Muddy, poorly marked or maintained trails to nowhere. Will come again with good boots. **But – rich with wildlife! great birding, the awesome sound of echoing pileated woodpeckers all over and amazingly, coywolves!

I foolishly tried to take the west entrance to see the meadow. I have a compact car it was a bad bad bad idea because the roads are not maintained and I had to hear the undercarriage of my car scraping because of a muddy hilly road and almost felt like I needed to call the authorities for help because I thought I would be stuck. I would like to visit again but maybe I’ll park on the street and walk in idk. I wish there were more instructions available on the wildlife preserve website.
