🐾 Kids at the Dog Park: Real Stories, Safety Risks & Smarter Solutions
If you’ve spent time at an off-leash park, you’ve probably seen it:A parent strolls in with a stroller 🚼 or […]
Petruska Park is a favorite local destination in Paramus, New Jersey, known for its clean grounds, friendly staff, and variety of amenities perfect for dog owners and families alike. The park is frequently visited by residents in the area, offering paved walking paths ideal for pet-friendly strolls, open fields for recreational activities, and plenty of green space for relaxing afternoons. While there is no explicit mention of a dedicated fenced off-leash dog park, dog owners enjoy the pet-friendly trails and scenic areas for daily walks.
Families love the park for its well-maintained playgrounds, picnic areas, and sporting facilities including a basketball court, baseball field, and an outdoor hockey rink. Petruska Park is also the host to seasonal events such as farmers markets and food truck gatherings, with spotless restrooms and a reputation for a safe, inclusive environment. Its convenient location and regular maintenance make it a welcoming spot for dog walks and family outings in Paramus.
Great rink to play some hockey and bring kids to the playground
We love going to the farmer’s market. The bathrooms are always scrubbed clean. The fields are beautiful. Bring the kids. There is lots of fun time here. Sporting events etc.
Paved walking path, basketball court outdoor hockey rink, playground, baseball field, picnic tables.
I have yet to explore the entire park as my kids LOVE the playground but so far, so good! The play area isn’t overly huge (unlike Van Saun Park or Overpeck) but well-spread apart and covers large areas. There’s a part made for smaller children closer to the parking area, and another for bigger kids towards the rear. The field is nice sized (which I never used), as well as the basketball court and a hockey rink (for roller blades, I believe). The local residents appear to be the main visitors and the “outsiders” are rarely seen, which contributed to the park being kept clean for the most part. The park occasionally hosts farmer’s market, food truck, and other events (which I couldn’t stop for any of) but I’d love to pre-plan my schedule to take my family to check them out.
Unsure whether it’s permanent or temporary due to the pandemic, but the building acted as a poll site for the 2020 Presidential election. The staff was straight forward and helpful.
The staff for summer camp does a fabulous job here! Especially Felicia! She is wonderful with all the children, especially the special needs kids! You couldn’t have asked for a better counselor !
The park is very clean! Rest room is also!!
