Delaware Park – Dog-Friendly Beach & Trails in Palms, Michigan

Delaware Park is a hidden gem along Lakeshore Rd in Palms, Michigan, beloved for its peaceful, dog-friendly atmosphere and scenic beach access. As one of the rare dog-friendly beaches in Michigan’s Thumb area, it’s a favorite amongst local pet owners seeking dog-friendly hiking trails, easy lakefront access, and plenty of space to explore. The park also features newly updated parking and is known for its suitability for kayaking, fishing, and family outings. Public restrooms and picnic amenities make it a practical spot for extended stays with your furry friends.

While Delaware Park offers a relaxing and less crowded environment, please note that the walk from the parking lot to the beach may be challenging for some, as recent updates moved parking farther away with limited accessibility for disabled guests. One of our favorite beaches. They just updated the parking lot as well. One of the few dog friendly beaches left in the thumb area as well.

This.
Used to be our favorite beach for sunning and rock collecting and chilling. We just went there and they’ve made a new parking lot and increased the distance to walk. There is nothing for handicap parking and my husband and I are both disabled so it was quite a hike to get down to the beach. why isn’t there handicap places to park? Why did you have to make the parking lot so far from the beach? I don’t think we can come back because it was quite difficult for us to get back to our car. Why don’t people leave well enough alone? They did all this and added three picnic tables and three grills. big deal! Handicapped and disabled people are obviously not welcome.

We love this spot for kayaking. A smaller beach, lots of parking space. Easy access to the water for loading and unloading kayaks. We’ve seen fisherman out there too.

Nice beach. Pretty hidden so not very crowded. Had a nice little bath to walk on too
