Very bad work ethics If you know, someone that knows them and you’re not ok with them, they will not let you adopt the animal That is Crazy and bad business. They called my manager once and left a messand then decided that they will not call again and lied To us and I’m Manager said they did not call her back again. bad business I feel sorry for those animals.

I was blessed to find my fur baby now known as Ren ( Greg ) this year after sadly losing my sweet Baby girl earlier this year . He’s such a big love bug and a true blessing to my family 💜

The shelter is clean and the animals are clearly well taken care of. I’ve worked in animal welfare before and I’ve definitely seen some shelters I wouldn’t recommend, but I would absolutely recommend GHHS. In addition to the clean environment and wonderful animals in need of a home, the employees are friendly and helpful!

We went to look for an older kitten who would be cuddly but also a play buddy to our 8 month old kitten. We were on our way out of the shelter when we noticed the front room with free roaming cats and decided to stop and check them out. “Provolone” was the first kitten I saw when I walked in, and I stopped to let her sniff my hand and to pet her. She instantly started purring. We interacted with some more cats but “Provolone” followed me, licking my shoes, so I picked her up and she instantly flopped into my arms as if she was home! Every time I tried to set her down, she would cling to me. We decided to follow the rule of “your cat chooses you,” and we adopted her.

The shelter staff were surprised she was allowing herself to be held because they said she had been so timid, and my friend found a post on the GHHS FB page from Feb 4th (my birthday!) saying how shy “Provolone” is and how she doesn’t like to be held. Shelters can be an overwhelming environment and it can be hard to see an animal’s true personality. I just wanted to share that not only is GHHS a wonderful shelter, but that “Provolone” (now Siofra) is one of the cuddliest cats I’ve ever known. She wants to always be in our arms or on our lap or even laying on our back! She is the sweetest cat and settling in SO well. Introductions to our resident cats and dogs are ongoing but so far progressing well!

Thank you for allowing us such a wonderful addition to our family.

Workers were friendly and honest about each animal. They listened to specific request and took me to animals that fit. I looked at the cats and all were generally friendly and approached for attention. Their cages were cleaned and they were provided as much roaming space as possible. Generally I was pleased with the staff and impressed with the living conditions.

While I’ve never visited, I ended up rescuing a dog who spent time here after an owner surrender (her documents had their info) and I reached out to inquire more info about her past, just out of curiosity and care for her adjustment into our home.

I honestly didn’t expect an answer, but they took the time to thoughtfully respond and were very friendly and thoughtful. It’s evident that they clearly care about the animals that are there, so I felt called to right this review — I definitely will be donating soon as a thank you for caring for our girl before she ended up with us further down her path. ❤️
