So beautiful.
There is a construction company using part of tunnel hill trail as a haul road for dump trucks. We had to wait about 15 min for their shuttle. They were nice enough to load up our bikes for us and give us a ride through the construction zone in a 4 seater UTV. I’d say the shuttle took us maybe 1.5 miles and probably only took about 10 minutes. Slowed us down a little bit wasn’t too bad.
The tunnel hill trail really needs to be marked better. We hiked in on the far end of the trail (not at the beginning where the opening to the tunnel is) and we got turned around pretty early on, and ended up following a totally different trail that I can tell is used by surveyors. We are avid hikers and don’t usually have this problem. We weren’t the only ones to get turned around either. We passed 2 families that did the same thing and we all ended up turning around and going back through the tunnel. Maybe its marked better coming from the other side, but it was definitely easy to get turned around on the far end. I can tell the trail would’ve been a great walk if we wouldn’t have gotten lost. Now we know to start at the beginning next time and to really keep a keen eye on the trail.
Do it as part of the tunnel.
This was such a fun find. Easy walk through the tunnel to the waterfall on the other side.
