Wheeler Park, located along Wheeler Park Drive in Oklahoma City, is a spacious and inviting destination perfect for dog owners, families, and outdoor enthusiasts. This pet-friendly park offers paved walking and hiking trails along the river, making it ideal for those seeking dog-friendly recreation and scenic views. The park is wheelchair accessible, includes a large parking lot, picnic tables, baseball and soccer fields, and plenty of open green spaces to explore with your furry friend.
In addition to being a great spot for pet-friendly picnics, Wheeler Park stands out for its accessibility features and proximity to kid-friendly amenities, such as a playground (though some reviews note it could use upgrades) and open areas for family activities. The park occasionally hosts special events like movies on the lawn. With its relaxing riverfront location and the unique sight of the historic Ferris wheel from the Iron Man movie, Wheeler Park is a standout dog park destination in Oklahoma City.
Not crowded. Very clean and the kids had fun. We’ve been qhwm they also had a movie on the lawn and that was great too.
Really a nice park, they could definitely upgrade the actual playground tho. Nice views, very close to the river and walking trails.
Nice paved trails along river with views of Ferris wheel across the river. We walked under the overpass, which has dirt/mud nests made by birds attached up under the overhangs. They were unique to tourists like us. Sturdy pedestrian bridge on the path. A pleasant place with a pretty big parking lot and baseball/soccer fields.
I play softball several times a week. After a recent change in staff the ball fields aren’t being cared for very well. No chalk on some nights. A couple of fields aren’t being dragged properly and are getting mounds of dirt built up, causing some potentially dangerous areas on the fields . Hopefully they get this fixed by next spring.
Had a great time here. Great historical ferris wheel. This is the exact same ferris wheel seen at the end of the first Iron Man movie.
