Awesome place. So many trails to accommodate any level of experience. Lots of water and wildlife. The history of the area also so informative. Birthplace of Pennsylvania commercial oil production so you will be hiking in the middle of the mountain and trip over a 2 inch pipe leading to a oil barrel. Cant recommended enough for a great day outdoors.

My sons and I had a great time hiking between the Wolf Kiel and Cow Run shelters in the park. Making reservations online was easy and cheap. The adirondack shelters were great, and the firewood was dry! The latrines were clean and well serviced. Free maps through the Avenza app were really helpful, and the trails were well marked.

It’s ok. The gerard hiking trail. Which loops around the whole park is a great feature. Most trails are in good condition and there are alot of historical markers and locations detailing the history of the region and the park. Other than hiking, backpacking and a small skiing area. There isnt much else to do. The vehicular bridge connecting the two sides of the park are out making it very difficult to access each side of the park over oil creek. As of 2/10/2024. The campgrounds are ok but there are better in the pa state park system and there arent alot of other noteworthy things to say.

Beautiful scenery especially in winter. Moderate to strenuous hiking with a well maintained trail. Two sets of Adirondack shelters equipped with fireplace and plenty of wood. Bathrooms available at both sites as well as water in the warmer months. Fairly easy access to multiple trailheads.
