Located along the scenic waterfront at 700 S Philadelphia Ave, Sunset Park is a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy gorgeous sunsets, waterfront views of Assateague Island, and the charming gardens unique to Ocean City, Maryland. While the main park is popular for strolls, birdwatching, and occasional outdoor concerts, dog owners are delighted to find the adjacent hidden gem – the Dog Beach. This dedicated pet-friendly beach area is just south of the park, providing a perfect spot for your furry friends to enjoy the sand and surf.
Sunset Park also offers amenities like benches, restrooms (open in the summer), and easy access to the heart of downtown Ocean City. Whether you’re taking your pup for a swim, enjoying the bay breeze, or attending free summer concerts, this dog-friendly destination is a must-visit for dog lovers exploring the Ocean City boardwalk area. Its location makes it easy to pair a visit with a stop at Trimper Rides or the Inlet district, making Sunset Park one of the best dog-friendly spots in Ocean City, MD.
This review isn’t exactly for Sunset Park, but rather what is adjacent to it…the Dog Beach. It’s a hidden gem, and a must for anybody who takes their pup to the beach with them. Nothing was going on in the park when we went, but in years past I heard live music there. One of the photos below shows a part of Sunset Park. The other two show the Dog Beach.
Nice scenery, and I’m looking forward to the summer concerts here🤙🏻
Sunset park is a great spot for a stroll cause you can see Assateague Island, boats, and may run across a free concert In the summer. Just to the south if you bring your dog is a beach for pets. The bathrooms are open in the summer. Easy walk to Trimper rides and the Inlet parking lot.
It’s a good place to watch a sunset
Small waterfront park overlooking the bay with beautiful gardens (landscaping), benches and restrooms. A small venue for outdoor concerts and performances (although I have never attended one). I use it primarily for bird watching because the gardens are great for sparrows and warblers, while the water and beach area is great for shorebirds and waterfowl. I have been here all times of year and quite enjoyable. Please note however my latest trip here in 8/2025, the beach area and dock area access was closed off to entry.
