Up in This neighborhood all my life. They are about to renovate and bring more activities for the community for the kids to have something to do to keep them occupied. You don’t see too many kids interested in sports and it’s really anything out here left for us to do. We no longer have a football team. We no longer have a basketball team. We no longer have a baseball team. So what do they expect for these young people to do? Now they look to the streets drawing interest into side shows. We used to have the Malibu which was the castle with the gold carts in the arcades. We had a skating ring on 71st and East 14th which is now international boulevard. Is more so. I feel like they trying to drive us out of Oakland not keep us here and we grew up here all our life. I’m fully wholeheartedly active as far as my kids and everyone else’s kids. As far as lit for literacy and passing the message empowering people about where our data for California states our kids black or brown as they label it. Anything other than a Asian or a Caucasian reading standards. Math standards is below rate. My kids school is in the yellow but it should be in the green. They don’t show no interest as far as increasing and doing what they have to do for the kids and it’s keeping us informed keeping us above grade level not below grade level. We fought so hard to get here and I’m going to do what it takes to move up. Not just keeping our heads above water. I chewed for this part elementary middle school until I went to Castlemont and cheered for my high school. I’m glad they made it. Make sense to invest in making things better in our neighborhoods.

This was the first time I actually stopped into the park because there was a major community event going on. It’s quite spacious well care for perfect play areas for a while variety of ages, looking to rest, exercise, or just chill in the shade and I’m glad they put money back into this part of the neighborhood really needed it.

It has a really nice grass area, a lot of people exercise here in the mornings, and neighborhood kids & parents play soccer in the afternoons.
•field
•basketball court
•small (and very old) playground
•sand (beware though, don’t leave children unattended they might find needles or other things)

Bring your own water bottles, the one in the park doesn’t work.
