🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located in the scenic Oakland hills at 3590 Sanborn Dr, Joaquin Miller Dog Park is a local favorite for dog lovers seeking a spacious, dog-friendly park in Oakland, California. The park features separate areas for large and small dogs, providing a safe space for all breeds to play and socialize off-leash. Surrounded by mature trees and nestled in a mountain forest setting, the park offers fresh air, beautiful views, and a mountain vibe that sets it apart from other dog parks in the area.
Dog owners will love the fully fenced enclosures with plush wood chip surfaces, making it comfortable for dogs to run and play. Amenities include water taps for thirsty pups, seating for owners, nearby restrooms, shade from trees, and parking adjacent to the dog area. Joaquin Miller Park is also wheelchair accessible and offers access to pet-friendly hiking trails for those wanting a longer adventure. While the park is generally well maintained, it may get dusty at times, so plan accordingly, especially if visiting with energetic pups.
Really nice park for dog, people are chill, bathrom around, nice view, fresh air in a mountian forest. Only down side is the dog park always little dusty but still. Great place👍
Beautiful Location Ruined by Careless Owners
Old berkeley/oakland hills hippies who have no idea how to control their dogs seem to dominate this place. Steer clear if possible. The dogs arenot properly trained and some are even vicious. Do yourself a favor and take the extra time to get to Alameda Dog Park. Much more well-adjusted dogs (and owners) there!
This is NOT an isolated incident. Steer clear for the group that seems to sit around in a circle every day in the afternoon, and an individual with a vicious Boston Terrier that comes in around 11:30-12:30 Tues/Thurs.
Very nice dog park. Many also just visit the park for a walk.
Love, love, love lots of running room, separate large/small dog areas, bring doggie bags, love the mountain vibe, trails, water available.
Fully fenced area with two water taps. Great park with lots of trees surrounding the area. Parking is available next to the little dog and large dog park. The base of the park is plush wood chips which my dogs loved to run on. Park wasn’t busy and was well maintained
